2:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Venue:

Clifton Campus, Nottingham Trent University, NG11 8NS

Description:

An invaluable course giving a concise overview of the requirements governing the Code for Sustainable Homes. Practical design guidance on achieving the UK Governments ambitious target of all new homes to be constructed to a zero-carbon standard by 2016.

This half-day seminar has been designed to provide you with an understanding of the scope of the Code for Sustainable Homes, the assessment process and practical compliance methods and its principal requirements. The seminar will provide an overview of the energy related criteria for the Code and will review the demands for energy in homes, identify the requirements of the Code and review the renewable energy technologies appropriate for reducing domestic CO2 emissions.

There will be case studies, current experimentation work and new technologies with particular reference to trial homes of differing construction and utilising a range of low energy technologies at the University of Nottingham. The facility provides fully monitored occupied homes for testing new technologies and for undertaking post occupancy evaluation and studies of human interaction with the new technologies.

This event falls under the 'Professional Context' and the 'Construction Skills' parts of the RIBA Core Curriculum for CPD. Attending the seminar will raise your general awareness to the subject issues and enable you to gather lots of detailed knowledge about it's application and delivery.
