As part of their leading role in the building industry, architects can play an integral part in combating climate change through the provision of low carbon new buildings and building refurbishments.

The RIBA's recently launched Climate Change Tools is a package of information enabling architects to engage with the issues. This event will give you a detailed understanding of the package of information whilst also providing guidance on the principles, tools, techniques and client relationships necessary to design and deliver low carbon buildings.

  • Climate Change Briefing; the critical role of the existing building stock and sources of benchmarking data.

  • Case studies on the design of low carbon buildings and working with clients to deliver them.

 

Speakers: Sunand Prasad, President RIBA -  Sunand is a senior partner andco-founder of Penoyre & Prasad and current President of the RIBA. He was a founding Commissioner of CABE and played a central part in the development of the CIC Design Quality Indicators. Sunand has taught and lectured in many schools of architecture, acted as external examiner and continues to teach and write. He lives in London with his family in a house designed and built together with friends.

Julian Marsh, Marsh:Grochowski Architects - Julian's Nottingham practice works on a wide range of low energy projects developing and experimenting with innovative approaches often in collaboration with universities and energy companies.
