The Energy Saving Trust shows housing designers how to design new housing and refurbish existing properties to accomplish the government 2050 carbon reduction targets.

 Following on from a successful series of events last year, introducing designers to the revised Part L regulations, the Energy Savings Trust (EST) has partnered with RIBA and CIAT to update housing designers with the knowledge required to design and deliver low-carbon housing.

 By attending this EST one-day workshop you will receive guidance on how to achieve higher energy efficiency requirements set out for new-builds within the Code for Sustainable Homes. The event will include sizing and choice of renewable technologies, suitable components and design techniques. You will also have the opportunity to model different solutions for new-build housing using SAP software.

 Speakers:Gavin Hodgson, BRE Environment Gavin is currently a senior consultant at BRE, who specialises as a technical author and project manager on the Energy Saving Trusts Best Practice in Housing Programme. After completing a degree in environmental monitoring he joined National Energy Services where he became a well-known SAP trainer, providing energy efficiency ratings and advice to architects and the wider housing industry. Gavin regularly lectures on the topics of air tightness, thermal bridging and passive solar design.
