This half day seminar is aimed at Architectural practices and will give broad and detailed information about how they should manage their day to day health and safety working practices. It will include their duty's and roles in the health and safety process; the Construction, Design and Management Regulations; and what and who the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) are targeting.

 

The session will include;

 

  • What documentation should be in place, why and how it should be managed.
  • The Health and Safety of staff, both in the office, on site, and elsewhere.
  • An update on the CDM Regulations with a particular reference to how they affect Architects.
  • What does the HSE look for on site and expect from those involved in a project?
  • Recent statistics from the HSE including the hidden cost of accidents.
  • Risks assessments, why do them, what should be in them.
  • A brief overview of other legislation of which designers should be aware.

 

Speaker: Alan Russell. Alan is registered with the Institution of Safety and Health (IOSH), is a Fellow of the Association for Project Safety [APS]. He is a principal trainer with Trenton Consultants Training which is one of only 4 companies who are approved to provide training for the APS. His background is in Plumbing and Heating before becoming a Facilities Manager within the NHS for 15 years before joining private practice.
