Description:
Practicing sustainable construction should be a fundamental skill of the architect and there needs to be a higher priority given to improvement of the existing commercial and residential building stock.
This seminar will highlight the implications of sustainable issues on design and construction, keep you abreast of new developments and bring you up to date with new and up-and-coming legislation. It also looks in some detail at issues relating to development and refurbishment of existing buildings.
The session will commence with a short overview of current global problems and in particular show how they relate to the construction industry. A more in-depth review of the following issues will then be presented:
-
Relevant legislation
-
Efficient water management; rainwater harvesting & grey water recycling
-
Lifecycle analysis – from cradle to cradle
-
Recycling and designing out waste
-
Low carbon technologies
-
Case studies reviewing the application and implication of sustainable construction techniques
There will also be ample opportunity to get answers to your specific sustainability questions.
