Description:

What can KPIs do for you?

Construction Performance Management and Effective Marketing using Constructing Excellence KPIs and the Design Quality Indicator.

An increasing number of clients are now using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate constructors and consultants at tender stage. The seminar will take delegates through the principles of performance measurement, the Constructing Excellence KPI sets and the frequently mandated Design Quality Indicator (DQI) published by the CIC. The seminar will show you how you can measure KPIs and how to use them effectively within tender documents and submissions and in marketing services to clients.

Over the last ten years many sets of KPIs have been introduced and the performance of the industry has, generally, improved year on year. This half-day CPD seminar will cover:

  • the principles of performance measurement generically and in construction
  • the Constructing Excellence KPI sets, formulae and methods of measurement: Economic (Egan’s principles); Respect for People (Social); Environmental; New Build (Housing and Non-Housing); Repairs & Maintenance and Refurbishment (Housing and Non-Housing); Repairs and Voids (Housing); Infrastructure; M&E Contractors; Consultants; Construction Products
  • the DQI published by the CIC and mandated for many public sector programmes
  • how to measure KPIs on your projects and organisations simply and effectively
  • how to use KPIs in tender documents (seeking the best performing suppliers)
  • how to use KPIs in tender submissions (proving you are the best performing supplier).

The seminar gives you three hours of general awareness and detailed knowledge CPD under the ‘Practice Management’ and ‘Managing Projects’ sections of the RIBA Core Curriculum.

Speaker: Mike Thomas. Mike is a construction professional with experience as Quantity Surveyor, Project Manager, Procurement Manager and Best Practice Facilitator. He managed the introduction and implementation of Value Management and Partnering into a FTSE 100 company, has contributed to Best Practice bodies and co-authored 'Construction Partnering & Integrated Team-working'.
