About the region

Membership statistics

RIBA London has 12,729 members: 7478 Chartered, 288 Graduates, 4,526 Students, 280 Affiliates and 157 Honorary Members.

30% of members are women and the average age of our membership is 40.

There are a total of 1,665 practices. 1,023 are Chartered of which 315 are multidisciplinary. There are a total of 248 one-person practices and 352 two-five person practices. 117 practices have over 30 people in their practice.

We promote excellence in the profession and the value of good design by celebrating your achievements in London through:

 

Engaging with others in London


We engage decision-makers and policy-makers to encourage a design-led approach to capital investment. We work with:

  • the Mayor
  • the boroughs
  • central government
  • our industry partners and other professions

 

Branch network


We listen to and support established and emerging practices, respond to cultural and community needs and encourage excellence in the profession through our network of branches|.

Who we are

 

RIBA London is made up of team of 4 full-time staff, governed by the RIBA London Council which comprises the Chair (Andrew Hanson), Treasurer (Lawrence Mawson), 8 elected London regional representatives on Council and the 10 RIBA London branches. The Council meets four times a year. The London Urbanism and Planning Group (LUPG) is a sub-committee of the London Council who meet six times a year and reports to RIBA London Council. RIBA London has established 6 new Policy Advisors responsible for consultations and available to sit on relevant external boards.

Vice-chairs each have a particular area of responsibility and convene a forum to advise them as and when they feel necessary. 
 
RIBA Council members
Karen Rogers, David Mikhail, Martin Knight, Chris Roche, Azar Djamali, Lawrence Mawson, Chris Hampsom and Dagmar Binsted were all elected in 2008.
