The clients live at the bottom of their former garden, having developed their new home behind their former Victorian house, selling that off to pay for the work. Bluebell House is by all definitions a well-considered design. The formal arrangement is quite simple, yet elegantly provides privacy and views, as well as two separate outdoor garden areas. The plan is organised around the trees and their roots.
The interior spaces allow both an open-plan and open-to-outdoors feel, yet can be subdivided into smaller private areas. The house is exquisitely detailed, with no junction unconsidered. The house is designed to be as sustainable as possible, using both passive and active measures, with green rooms, rainwater storage, solar water heaters and natural ventilation.
