The architects have added a two-storey rooftop extension that has architecturally completed what had previously appeared as an unfinished building.
The concept of the extension as a 'hat' - the lower storey set back under an overhanging brim, the upper volume a shallow vaulted roof – satisfies a number of criteria that are particular to both the existing building and its location. The leading edge of the brim, echoing the form of the building below, has a dark soffit, its gloss finish reflecting street-level activity.
