The Painted House is a model house: aesthetically, environmentally and sociologically. This pair of semis is now home to the client and three generations of his extended family of 11.
The two houses have largely been rebuilt, but certain elevations have been retained. Inside plastered surfaces are bright, downstairs the floors are screed, upstairs ply, and throughout the painted joinery is warm grey. It is this homogenisation that successfully draws one's attention to the particular size and shape of each space.
