The old school was dark and unloved, but it has been retained and transformed, its size doubled by wrapping new accommodation and terraces around it, re-orientating it and linking it to its wooded site.
The limited range of materials, timber and brick, used in a very coherent, yet flexible way informs the building's charming character.
Inside a succession of pitched roofs, with the timber trusses exposed, scale and zone the nursery school and the multipurpose room. New roof lights let daylight into the deep plan.
