Choosing learning experiences
RIBA London was a learning provider for NESTA's idiscover programme, a scheme set up to encourage young people to choose learning experiences which appealed to their interests.
RIBA London offered creative sessions for Key Stage 3 & 4 students (young people aged 11-15) in south London schools and at the Design Museum.
Young people worked with architects and planners to respond to where they live. They tested design ideas through drawing and model-making and developed skills in problem solving.
The following workshops were offered:
Archi-Future - re-interpreting local spaces / experiments in 3D visions of the future.
Build Your Own Town - using the Building Futures game to work in teams and plan new community services.
One school wrote after their workshop to say, 'Our students have thoroughly enjoyed the experiences and have been keen to share their excitement about learning with us.'
