Architecture Open 2012 - call for submissions
RIBA London invites members across the capital to submit work for an open exhibition at the RIBA's London headquarters this autumn.
Supporting members from all walks of the profession, from students to retired professionals, the exhibition aims to show the breadth and variety of approaches taken by architects, while giving an equal platform to star and lesser-known practitioners alike.
Entrants are advised to consider competition entries, conceptual projects, paintings, drawings and models relating to both built and unbuilt projects, including those that may not have yet had exposure. The aim is to highlight quality of work, provide a platform for unseen projects, and display the breath of processes an architect might go through to reach a finalised design.
The resulting exhibition will be open to the general public from 1 October – 6 November 2012, and with so many different authors, it is essential that the work submitted is engaging and compelling.
Criteria:
-
The exhibition is open only to RIBA members in London.
-
Only one piece of work per submission (though this may include multiple parts eg, a triptych or a model with stand should be classed as one piece).
-
Members are free to submit as many pieces of work as they wish; however, each piece will require an individual submission form and payment of the registration fee.
-
Submissions must be of exhibition standard ie, immaculate, ready to hang and engaging to members of the public.
-
All London members are eligible – student, associate, retired, affiliate, chartered and honorary fellows. Submissions must include a membership number.
-
Works can be entered on canvas, as framed drawings and paintings, foamex, glass, sketchbooks, models.
-
No late submissions will be accepted.
-
Selected works will demonstrate the breadth of creativity and innovation within the profession. Standard project boards are unlikely to be chosen for the exhibition.
