RIBA London has teamed up with Design for London and developer and investor Qatari Diar to launch Forgotten Spaces, an ideas based competition that will highlight areas of left-over land in London and encourage innovative proposals for improving local communities.
The competition featuring cash prizes is open to students, artists, designers and architects in Greater London and will result in a public exhibition at The National Theatre on London’s Southbank from:
24 May – 4 July 2010. A launch event and announcement of winners will take place on 26 May 2010.
Complementing the Mayor’s Great Spaces initiative, Forgotten Spaces seeks out under used areas of the capital and hearts of local communities and explores their possibilities.
'Remembering Spaces' mapping workshops
The workshops explore different approaches to the re-imagining of "forgotten spaces". The aim is to stimulate original and innovative entries for the competition, encouraging participants to bring their professional skills together with approaches and insights from grassroots approaches to regeneration.
