Nine RIBA architects showcase their work in Shanghai in 'Play your Style'
RIBA London partnered with the British Council and Shui On Development Limited to deliver a series of eyecatching architectural installations in Shanghai as part of the UK Now festival, which celebrates British creative talent in China.
Following the success of the RIBA London Regent Street Windows project, which partnered architects with retailers on London's Regent Street, the Shanghai project partnered nine London architects with nine prominent retailers to design and create innovative and engaging window displays and one outdoor installation in Shanghai Xintiandi and Xintiandi Style shopping centre.
The resulting displays are on public display in Shanghai from 21 September - 11 October 2012.

How it worked:
The architects donated their time, while the retailers paid for the materials, production and installation of the window designs. Retailers set their maximum budget and architects were asked to design within these constraints.
In exchange for their time and creativity, the architects' flights and accommodation in Shanghai were provided. They also received a credit on the shop window and huge exposure and press coverage in China and the UK.
