This autumn RIBA London is launching a pilot mentoring scheme with Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design (CSM). The scheme is based on the model| developed by colleagues in the RIBA South / South East office.
The scheme sees third year Part 1 students matched in pairs to architect mentors. Student mentees will meet their mentor at an introductory event at the university before arranging three further sessions by the end of January 2013. The mentoring contact may include time in the architect’s studio, attending site visits or shadowing meetings.
The scheme aims to offer an important insight into practice life and the work of architects today. It is not a work placement scheme nor is it additional tuition but an important way for students to experience the range of work carried out by the profession.
Over 50 students will benefit from being matched to architects from the following practices:

This will help the students appreciate the diversity of practices and practitioners in London, before they meet their linked mentor.
