Situated at the heart of Newcastle Quayside adjacent to the Law Courts, the site had become neglected in recent years, dominated by a large surface car park and flanked by overgrown, intimidating landscaped banks to either side.
Southern Green Ltd was commissioned in Summer 2000 by Silverlink Properties Plc, to contribute to their competitive bid to Newcastle City for the site. The sites of All Saints and Corner Tower area were originally outside the brief from the City Council, however in order to create a truly seamless transition between the Quayside and the city centre and to ensure improved public access, Silverlink opted to incorporate these neglected green outlying areas, and this gave a winning edge to the submission.
