On Friday 11 July almost 400 people gathered at Newcastle Marriott Gosforth Park Hotel for the Sandcastle Ball.  The guests enjoyed a great evening which was hosted by Jonathan Morrell and Philippa Tomson from ITV Tyne Tees.  The food and service provided by the hotel was wonderful and the guests danced the night away to the sounds of the Watts 'n Whiffin Big Band.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the Sandcastle Challenge Trophy which this year was presented to Steven Leigh of Mott MacDonald for his work on the beach with Western Community Primary School, Wallsend.
