Description:

This one day training course provides an examination of issues, principles, materials technology and techniques useful in the design of concrete buildings of up to four storeys. The content is structured around the achievement of a building as an appropriate climate modifier, taking into account the visual aspects of architecture and the performance to ensure an efficient and low environmental impact building.

What you should learn:

  • The issues associated with detailed design and assessment of performance
  • The essentials of working with existing buildings: approaches to insulation, thermal bridges and existing appearance versus benefit of thermal mass
  • The analysis of heating and cooling strategies for heavyweight buildings
  • The relationship between buildability, lean construction and CDM regulations
  • Details of facade and envelope for best performance visual and environmental control maintenance and recycling formwork.
