The Florence Institute is believed to be the oldest surviving purpose built Boys Club in the country. The "Florrie" has been a base for, amongst others, the singer Gerry Marsden and boxer and former World Champion John Conteh and now houses wonderful football memorabilia.

With the majority of the funds for the new work being raised locally, this extraordinary and characterful building once more sits proudly serving the community at the heart of Toxteth. New interventions such as the rear elevation have been thoughtfully and respectfully considered adding another layer to this wonderful building's history.

The building has been lovingly refurbished and rejuvenated by the architect's Purcell and it is hoped it will remain serving the people of Liverpool for many more years to come.
