The design of this 1,150 pupil school underpins the teaching methodology and allows for a significant level of flexibility, with moving walls and interlocking spaces, exploring the boundaries of how space is used to deliver and extend learning. Instead of enclosed corridors, all circulation spaces open to the central atrium, reinforcing the connection between pupils and staff, and reducing bullying.
The exterior of the building has a robust brick plinth, with vertical cedar staves above used to dissolve the overall mass of the building.
