A central worship/gathering space represents the heart of the school, which can act as a single space - with suitable ecclesiastical feel - or can be divided into two distinct assembly rooms and dining hall/gymnasium.
This is architecture of great maturity by FCB: a restrained yet stimulating canvas for the school to personalise as its home, whilst offering clear wayfinding through coherent design. The Head believes that the teachers’ wellbeing had been ‘taken up a notch’ by transferring to the new school.
Successful integration of the glulam structure with the services demonstrates a holistic commitment by the design team to an award-winning solution. It is difficult to imagine how a particular spiritual and educational vision could have been realised more successfully within a far from generous budget.
