This seminar will answer many questions:

¨ What are Design and Access Statements, when should they be used, and what should they contain?

¨ How can they be used in conjunction with guidance such as the Approved Document to Part M (2004) and BS8300 to achieve accessibility and inclusion for all users whilst maximising the opportunities for creativity and design freedom?

¨ What is the role of the client in providing an inclusive environment?

¨ What role does a statement play in the management of an environment when in use?

Speaker: Keith Bright of Keith Bright Consultants

Emeritus Professor of Inclusive Environments at the University of Reading, Keith is a member of the RIBA’s Inclusive Design Committee, the Inclusive Environments Group and the Building Regulation Advisory Committee (BRAC), statutory advisers to Government on the Building Regulations in England and Wales. He has authored and co-authored over 100 books, articles, conference and journal papers.

Both seminars include a talk by Terry Warren of jha innovation on issues related to accessibility and building regulations. Terry has undertaken Access Consultancy for a wide range of clients from Starbucks Coffee Shops to the Metropolitan Police. He runs terry warren i.e. consultants ltd and is Inclusive Design Manager for leading Corporate Approved Inspector jhai ltd.
