This workshop takes a single 'horror-themed' commercial development and analyses it from an inclusive design standpoint using Part M to the Building Regulations and the Approved Document to identify and correct the typical issues that cause problems for architects, designers and building control surveyors. An opportunity to discuss and interact with fellow professionals.
Objectives of the seminar: Detailed understanding of the Approved Document, how it is applied and common misunderstandings. Awareness of the relationship with disability discrimination legislation.
Who should attend: Architects, building control surveyors, designers and access officers.
An excellent opportunity for planners to gain an understanding of inclusive environments.

Speaker: Terry Warren BA(Hons) NRAC of i.e. consultants ltd, Inclusive Environment Consultancy, is a Civic Trust Awards Inclusive Design Assessor and Inclusive Design Manager at jhai ltd. He has written articles on inclusive design and the DDA and contributed to Guidance for the Disability Rights Commission (EHRC). He delivers seminars and workshops for RIBA, RICS and ABE. His clients include Starbucks coffee shops, the Metropolitan Police, the Citizens Advice Bureau, Metropolitan Housing Trust, Travis Perkins, Travelodge, Howdens, Mendip District Council, Shanghai Tang and Carratu International.
