This seminar will cover the following topics:
JCT Contracts 2005
• Revision 2 – outlook on the major changes introduced in 2009
• Completing and understanding particulars of contract on the 2005 contracts, how the JCT
2005 suite of main contracts should be considered when drafting and the effect of the contracts on communication and administration of the various contracts
• Design and Build – managing the contract, the role of the contractor and the employer's agent
under the JCT Design and Build 2005 contract, how the contractor and employer's agent have to communicate, notifying and dealing with events, ambiguities, inconsistencies, design approval and payment
Understanding and managing NEC3 contracts (all main options)
• How to complete and interpret the contract data, schedule of cost components, shorter schedule of cost components, communication, compensation events and time bar.
Speaker
: Robert Shawyer of Always Associates specialises in Construction Law and disputes
including vetting and drafting contracts, collateral warranty and administration systems, and provides legal advice. He also advises in respect of Partnering and Frameworks Contracts and Agreements plus a wide range of topics related to contentious and non-contentious matters such as Standard Forms of Contract, ADR forums and procedure, design liability, programming and planning, management and quantity surveying techniques, contract and construction law.
