This one-day course is an introduction to Passivhaus. It will help you avoid common mistakes, making the journey smoother and your project cheaper and easier to build. The day will consist of:
1. Why Passivhaus?
2. How Passivhaus affects pre-planning design

How shape affects the heat loss;
-
Significance of solar access in site planning; how to achieve PH without optimum orientation/access;

Use of PHPP to aid design choices.
3. How Passivhaus affects detailed design
4. Certification and process
Speaker: Peter Warm is a Chartered Energy Conservation Engineer with a strong interest in understanding how the building fabric works. His experience is varied between research and practical on site work. Currently, Peter is a partner in Warm: Low Energy Building Practice with his daughter Sally Godber. Peter is accredited by the Passivhaus Institut in Darmstadt to provide certification and consultancy for Passivhaus schemes. Currently, he is providing consultation on new build schemes including St Ive Rural Passivhaus and several Passivhaus retrofit projects.

In conjunction with this course, we have arranged for all delegates attending the above event to visit, FREE of charge, a Passivhaus project just outside Exeter at three stages of the house construction (Passivhaus Consultant: Peter Warm).
