The Localism Act represents the first major legislative change to embody the Coalition Government's localism principles. It will have to be applied by practitioners alongside other policy and guidance changes that have set the localism agenda.
This presentation will offer a practical guide to the process of preparing and submitting planning applications and cover the following issues:
What is sustainable development?
If the 'default position' is to grant permission for sustainable development, what role will quality of design play?
The neighbourhood consultation process: friend or foe?
Has the National Planning Policy Framework introduced any real change?
The community infrastructure levy in practice.
Delegates will have the opportunity to contribute and participate as part of the presentation.
