This seminar will look at old and historic timber framed buildings and structures and will be presented by one of the UK’s leading timber framed experts, Richard Harris.

It will include:

  • History and background to timber framed buildings;
  • Types and classification of timber frame and their evolution;
  • Traditional construction materials  - characteristics, sources, preparation;
  • Techniques of construction; jointing and detailing;
  • Analysing problems;
  • Repair and refurbishment techniques;
  • Specifying and selecting materials;
  • Workmanship.
