The region consists of its 1,600-plus chartered members, around 300 registered practices, plus student, graduate and subscriber members. They are supported and represented by Linda Mills, the regional director, and an elected regional council.
 
The council is made up of a regional chairman, the five branch chairs, regional group chairs, regionally elected councillors, and the regional treasurer. Others may be co-opted. The regional chairman has a two-year term and the current chairman is Robin Haddow.
