Private House, Hurley - David Parker, David Parker Architects

Ferry Place - David Park Architects

This sustainable house replaced a ferryman's cottage at an old ferryboat crossing point. Its large, secluded garden with more than 100 metres of river frontage favoured the house having a strong relationship with its setting and exploiting the high-quality external space. All rooms are very light and have wide aspects: floor-to-ceiling glazing, glazed corners and wide opening glazed doors Extensive timber decked verandas with glass balustrading and a highly-developed internal artificial lighting scheme provide visual and sculptural interest.
