The RIBA has announced the buildings in the South Region that have been shortlisted for the RIBA Awards in 2011. In the region, which covers Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Oxfordshire, 35 buildings designed by chartered architects were entered for the Awards. Of the entries, 12 were shortlisted following visits by members of the shortlisting panel. Those buildings were:

Berkshire

• Private House, Berkshire – Formation Architects, London N1
• Coworth Park Spa, Sunninghill – Purcell Miller Tritton, Cambridge
• Douai Abbey and Library, Upper Woolhampton – David Richmond + Partners, London EC1

Buckinghamshire

• Private House Indoor Swimming Pool, Buckinghamshire – Paul + O Architects, London NW6
• Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, Aylesbury – RHWL Architects, London E1
• The Rothschild Foundation, Waddesdon Estate, Aylesbury – Stephen Marshall Architects LLP, London N1

Hampshire

• Private House, Hampshire – JPA, Lymington
• Private House, Hampshire – Perring Architecture & Design, Lymington
• The Life Sciences Building, University of Southampton, Southampton – NBBJ, London SE1

Oxfordshire

• Department of Earth Sciences, University of Oxford, Oxford – Wilkinson Eyre Architects, London EC1
• Kendrew Quadrangle, St John’s College, Oxford – MJP Architects, London E1
• New kitchens and dining room, The Queen’s College, Oxford – Berman Guedes Stretton, Oxford.

 

The winners of the RIBA Awards 2011 will be announced on 19 May. All RIBA Award winners will be eligible for consideration for the prestigious RIBA Stirling Prize and for a number of Special Awards.

We will organise tours of as many of these buildings as possible.
