12 June 2008
2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Venue:
Winchester Guildhall
Description:
A green revolution is coming. From April 2008, All new Housing Association dwellings will need to achieve a Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3. By the end of the year, the Government are proposing that all new homes must be Code certified.
Any architects involved in residential schemes will therefore require a fundamental understanding of sustainable design as well as the Code assessment process.
Elliot Carter of the Green Register will aim to de-mystify this process and advise on some of the major sustainability issues reviewed under the Code. He will discuss likely costings and identify areas on which to focus your design effort. Various case studies will be used to identify cost-effective solutions and approaches, including practical advice on product and material specifications.
The workshop will also involve a run-through of a detailed case study, for which all attendees will help carry out a preliminary Code review.
