Venue:
Guildhall, Winchester
Description:
Your help is needed – listen to the speakers and contribute to the debate!
Whilst Conservation Officers and Conservation Architects can work very effectively together, there are too many examples of dispute over individual cases. Let's face it we are all after the same things aren't we: the expert management of change, so what's the difficulty? Is it as fundamental as meaning different things by the word conservation'; do theory and practice lead to different solutions; does our training set them apart; is it all the government's fault; or is it simply that we don't talk to each other enough or perhaps not listen hard enough when we do?
This interactive forum will focus on the resolution of these challenges with particular reference to the imminent replacement of the PPG15.
Who should attend?
Conservation Officers and Architects and Planners working in the field of conservation.
Why attend?
Attendees will hear from speakers with in depth-knowledge on the subject, including Donald Insall of Donald Insall Associates Ltd, who will present his thoughts and concerns reflected in his latest book, 'Living Buildings'.
Delegates will also have the opportunity to express their own views on the issues raised and to take part in a debate with their peers. Through a series of small afternoon workshop sessions, delegates will be able to contribute to the feedback which will be presented to English Heritage, the IHBC and local government.
