02 July 2009
2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Venue:
West Berkshire Council, Newbury
Description:
The aim of this interactive seminar, organised by the Berkshire Society of Architects in association with RIBA South, is to facilitate a dialogue between Planners and Architects on design quality and how this is affected by the current planning system. The session will address current practice and look at ways in which the system could be improved. The seminar will discuss the design quality of small, medium and large developments, and will examine the following:
-
How can Architects and Planners use their expertise to improve the quality of developments?
-
How can design be best communicated at different stages?
-
What hinders the communication process between Architects and Planners?
The afternoon will begin with presentations from a local Architect and Planner, who will put forward their own personal views on the planning system. They will raise the questions as to what works, what doesn't, and how improvements can be made. Following these two presentations, delegates will join small workshop groups to examine specific areas where improvements could be made.
