This seminar will cover the new PPS (in the consultation phase as of August 2009) as well as: 

  • The definition of 'heritage asset' and how to research historic significance
  • What to do to ensure your application for heritage consent is validated quickly
  • Energy efficiency and the historic environment – does the planning system have a valid role?
  • Re-use of redundant buildings – is the planning system poor at recognising reasonable proposals?
  • Accessibility in the historic environment – has the planning system struck the right balance?
  • The economic situation: how best to argue 'enabling development'.
