This seminar shall consider the effect of the Local Democracy Economic Development and Construction Act 2009 on Contracts in England and Wales post 1 October 2011. In particular it will examine:

which contracts (including architects appointments) are under the amended rules of this new Act
-
the new and amended statutory payment and adjudication rules
-
the obligations of the certifier
-
whether the payer or the payee should notify
-
whether the payer should invite applications
-
whether silence can bind a client to having to pay monies claimed
-
the powers and obligations of the payer and payee
-
the new rights of suspension
-
the new rights of the payer upon insolvency of the payee.
The speaker will also touch on the amended rules of the Housing Grants Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 concerning adjudication.
This is a must-attend talk for anyone certifying payment, seeking payment or administering or drafting Construction Contracts or Consultancy Service Agreements.
