Description:

This seminar will look at the History of Heritage Protection reform and the current Statutory Framework & Guidance affecting Heritage Assets and Conservation Areas. In addition, it will look at the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and its role in Planning for the Historic Environment. In particular, it will look at the genesis of the NPPF and its position within the statutory planning decision making process before considering its particular requirements relating to 'Good Design' and 'Conserving and enhancing the historic environment'. The seminar will also look at some cases of particular interest and consider the emerging provisions of the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Bill (which may by the time of the presentation have received Royal assent).
