Integrating elements of this soon-to-be mandatory Code into new homes and obtaining assessments against the Code will enable developers to obtain a 'star rating' for any new home, which will demonstrate its environmental performance. It will provide valuable information to home buyers and offer builders a tool with which to differentiate themselves in sustainability terms. This seminar will introduce:

  • The new Code and discuss the status of the existing EcoHomes standard
  • The new sustainability scale and EcoHomes equivalence
  • Minimum standards and credit structure
  • How to achieve different Code levels and assessment process
  • Costs, Requirements and Opportunities
  • The Code and the future: what to expect

 

The seminar will commence by explaining the BREEAM family of assessment methods and tools, designed to help construction professionals understand and mitigate the environmental impacts of the developments they design and build.

The afternoon will be concluded with presentations by local architects who have used the Code, or who have designed cutting edge sustainable buildings that would comply with the Code.

Speakers: Elliot Carter is Associate Director of PDM Consultants, who work in partnership with JHAi, a leading Corporate Building Control Approved Inspector. They have a UK network of unique expert professionals provides services involving all aspects of UK Building Regulations, Fire Engineering, Inclusive Designs, Sustainable Construction and Building Control related Education and Training.

Local architects will include: Martin Penk, Arco2 Architects, Bodmin(Truro seminar), Mike Hope, Roderick James Architects LLP, Totnes (Exeter seminar) and Peter Kent Architect, Devizes (Wimborne seminar).
