Health & Safety is a mandatory part of the RIBA Core Curriculum. With this seminar, get a full update on what’s happening in Health and Safety. H&S expert Alan Russell will take a clear and informative look at current and forthcoming issues.

At the seminar you will:

• Look at the latest on CDM and the last introduced Codes of Practice
• Get an update on the current designers duties
• Find out about the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS). Large contractors and major clients already require their contractors to have a CSCS-carded workforce. Does this apply to architects?

Speaker: Alan Russell of Trenton Consultants, part of the Butler and Young Group (BYL), Approved Inspector for Building Control. After his training to become a building surveyor, Alan worked as Senior Estates Officer for University College Hospital, which led him into risk management. Through natural progression, he then became Planning Supervisor and is now one of the very few people in the UK who are recognised, approved and accredited, to train others in the Management of CDM. Alan is a Fellow of the Association for Project Safety, one of only about 90 in the UK and is on the Register of Competent CDM Coordinators.

Established over ten years ago, BYL were one of the first companies to be granted a license by the government and have now become specialists in their field providing comprehensive building services, including building control, fire engineering, health and safety, disability discrimination and asbestos surveys through to structural design and party wall surveying.
