Architecture WM Charity Day

22 September 2012

11:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Venue:

Usk Way, Solihull, B36

Description:

Come along to the first of hopefully many Architecture WM Charity Days, held in collaboration with RIBA West Midlands, environmental charity Groundwork West Midlands| and Solihull Community Housing.

Architecture WM Charity Day is taking place on 22 September 2012 and will see volunteers take on a dilapidated community garden space on an estate in North Solihull.

The purpose of the work is to create a small landscaped garden, and will involve digging and planting, setting up vegetable and herb planters and the painting of the estate's garage doors facing the site, together with residents, RIBA West Midlands staff and Groundwork staff.

The community landscaping project is based at Usk Way, North Solihull, and is part of 'Operation Groundwork|', a campaign that encourages everyone to roll up their sleeves and get involved in preserving their much loved local green spaces.

The volunteering event will start at 11am with a briefing session, and finish at around 3pm, and participants are required to bring a packed lunch and sturdy work boots.

There is access to facilities at the local community centre where participants can also leave their belongings.

Participants will also have the opportunity to visit a number of adjacent completed projects and see the positive impact that they have had on the community.
