Central meeting point to be arranged

Description:

This event forms part of the Climate Change Festival in Birmingham.

'Green Roof' is a general term of any roof covered with a growth substrate with planting growing on it, and as such, they vary enormously in their type and function.

The roofs provide huge environmental benefits, such as:

  • the thermal insulation of buildings
  • increased roof longevity
  • urban cooling
  • improved urban aesthetics
  • reduced roof run-off
  • habitat creation

The ability of a green roof to deliver these benefits depends very much on their design; however, there is no doubt as to the sutainable qualities of these roofs.

Come along and view these roofs for yourself as Dr Adam Bates talks you through their various uses and benefits.

Tour Two - Visit the RIBA Award nominated Fort Dunlop and discover how the building is working to combat climate change.
