Presented annually, these awards recognise the outstanding students of architecture from schools in the Yorkshire region.
All four regional schools of architecture take part in the awards scheme. Students from Leeds Metropolitan University, The University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University and Huddersfield University are put forward by their tutors. A different panel of judges is put together each year and usually comprises a nationally renowned architect, an academic from a school of architecture outside of Yorkshire, a regional architect and a recent architecture graduate.
For the first time in 2007, students from both Part 1 and Part 2 courses entered the awards we were pleased to receive a record 12 entries. The entered schemes were exhibited during Architecture Week in June at The Round Foundry Media Centre in Holbeck, Leeds.
The winners were announced at the RIBA Yorkshire AGM and they were presented with their prizes at the RIBA Yorkshire Awards Dinner on 16 November 2007 at Leeds Town Hall.
