The judges said ... "The architects have created a new light filled space to the rear of a large nineteenth century house. The pitched roof addition sensitively marries cast concrete, original and reclaimed stonework and finely detailed joinery to form a new kitchen and dining room. Carefully placed rooflights animate the space and a fully glazed rear wall re-orientates the house towards the sun filled garden.
Small moves in plan and section and an eye for detail have resulted in a beautifully controlled piece of domestic architecture. A fine example of what can architect can bring to the design and delivery of a small project."
