The final RIBA Yorkshire Architecture Forum of 2012 will celebrate Kirk Balk Community College, which won a 2012 RIBA Award for Architects Alford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM), and whose Client Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council (BMBC) was awarded the RIBA Yorkshire Client of the Year 2012.
The Kirk Balk Community College is one of 11 schools being built as part of BMBC’s ambitious Building Schools for the Future programme; the most comprehensive school building programme in the UK. The building comprises of two simple geometric forms, a triangle and a rectangle, which the Architects have used skilfully to create a very clear and pragmatic solution to the brief. This simple geometric approach has enabled resources to be diverted into providing a much higher quality of finish and material specification than is normal within the school building programme, whilst also creating a great learning environment for pupils of the school.
Join us hear about the project from AHMM and take a tour of the building.
When booking, please identify whether you would like to observe the Regional Council meeting and/or attend the talk and tour.
