31 October 2012
6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Venue:
The Rose Bowl Lecture Theatre A, Leeds Metropolitan University, Portland Crescent, Leeds LS1 3HB
Description:
We are pleased to announce that the Presidents of RIBA, RTPI and The Landscape Institute are appearing together to debate how we can all work together to create sustainable places to live and work.
This is a challenge to all professionals engaged in the built environment. In recent years, the debate around a planned environment has focused on process rather than outcome. There is a strong need to redress this and re-balance the discussion to ensure that sustainable places and spaces remain as the legacy of the 21st Century.
In the North of England in particular, not only does the cycle of under investment and low quality investment need to be broken, it requires replacement with a clear forward vision by those charged with its delivery - and its regulation.
Too often in the past, architects, landscape architects and planners have found themselves in positions of conflict across a 'development divide', rather than seeking common purpose in delivering sustainable, long lasting development.
We hope you will sign up to participate in what promises to be an illuminating event.
