Architecture is a political issue because it affects people's lives: how we live, how our children are taught, how we are treated when we are ill and the quality of our neighbourhoods. In Wales, the RSAW seeks to help, inform and influence the National Assembly for Wales and Welsh Government.
The RSAW has strong links with Welsh Government, regularly meeting with Ministers and Civil Servants and holding events at the Senedd to raise awareness of the challenges facing architects and the built environment in Wales with all Assembly Members.
We engage with the work of the National Assembly for Wales through regular meetings with Assembly Members and their staff as well as providing comprehensive briefings to inform Committee enquiries, consultations and plenary debates.
As part of our influencing activity we have responded to the following Welsh Government Consultations:
-
Sustainable Development Bill White Paper - March 2013
-
Building Regulations Part L Review - October 2012
-
Homes for Wales – A White Paper for Better Lives and Communities - August 2012
-
Sustainability Development Bill - July 2012
-
Presumption in favour of Sustainability - May 2012
-
