19 April 2013
All day
Venue:
Aberystwyth Arts Centre
Description:
Borrowing our title loosely from Robert Burns’s poem To a mouse, the 2013 RSAW Spring School offers plenty of opportunity through workshops sessions and plenary forums to explore why “the best laid schemes of mice and men do often go awry”.
Presented jointly with RTPI Cymru and hosted by the Aberystwyth Arts Centre as part of the inaugural Wales Festival of Architecture, the one-day conference features an update on the forthcoming planning white paper and draft bill directly from the Welsh Government. There’ll be a chance to discuss practical issues like protected species legislation, as well as a healthy dose of “blue-sky thinking” and a chance to ask the Presidents-elect of RIBA and RTPI what they think about the future of planning and architecture. The Inspiration Hour is provided by John Pardey, who will share the planning stories behind his award-winning projects in an open session for a specially-invited extended local audience.
