The Research and Development Committee reports to the Professional Services Board| and its primary responsibility is to help to inspire and steer the work of the department, drawing on the knowledge and experience of practitioners, academics and researchers.
 
Activities and functions

• Advise on the formulation of policy with regard to research, its dissemination and implementation.
• Recommend priorities for the business plan and budget.
• Review the implementation of Council policies and the progress of work against agreed objectives.
• Promote collaboration between research doers and users.
• Recommend strategies to consolidate and increase funding for architecture and built environment research.
• Work to improve links between architecture and built environment education, research and practice.
• Appoint task groups and specialist advisers for relevant projects and subjects.
