Guerrilla Tactics 2010

Guerrilla Tactics is the RIBA's flagship annual conference dedicated to small architecture practices and providing relevant, new and stimulating content covering all aspects of running a micro-business. The 2010 event, entitled 'What Clients Want', took place on the 17 and 18 November at RIBA headquarters in central London and celebrated the relationship between architect and client. The event was hosted by RIBA President Ruth Reed and moderated by Jane Duncan, Vice President Practice.

Wednesday 17 November featured a full day of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) with training sessions across a wide range of relevant subjects and a market place showcasing cutting edge products. The day concluded with an evening networking event, ‘Little and Large’, specially designed for small practice delegates to meet and pitch ideas to representatives of some of the largest UK architecture practices.

On Thursday 18 November, Guerrilla Tactics continued with a full day conference providing architects with a lively programme of presentations, keynotes, panel discussions, an afternoon 'live pitch' event and opportunities for networking with leading names from the architecture and commercial world. Speakers included architects, developers, contractors, journalists, cultural commentators and government and local government representatives.

NBS interviews

Our sponsors NBS interviewed delegates during the event, asking for views on key issues affecting the construction sector:

  • the impact building regulations are having on projects and practice
  • how the recession is affecting marketing strategies
  • dealing with the sustainability agenda
  • landmark buildings from the last 10 years

The interviews can be viewed on the NBS website|.
