About the department
The Professional Conduct Unit deals with complaints of professional misconduct against members of the RIBA in accordance with the RIBA's Disciplinary Procedures. It provides the secretariat for the Disciplinary Committee, which operates in two separate panels: the Assessment Panel and the Hearings Panel. The former investigates the evidence provided by both complainant and member and determines whether or not to issue a charge to be heard by the Hearings Panel.
The Unit looks after the RIBA Code of Professional Conduct|, which is periodically reviewed and updated by an appointed committee or working group, for which the Unit also provides the secretariat services.
